Outlook, phone & Thunderbird

Webmail works in the browser with no install. Prefer a desktop or phone app? Use these IMAP and SMTP settings — same host for both.

Server settings

Use these values unless your Domains screen shows something different for your organization.

Prefer IMAP over POP

IMAP keeps mail on the server so webmail, phone, and desktop stay in sync. POP downloads and can make folders diverge — only use POP if you know you need it.

Username and password

  • Username — your full email address (for example jane@yourcompany.co.ke), not a short login name.
  • Password — the mailbox password set by your organization admin (or the one you set when the account was created).
  • During trial, use your trial address on the shared domain the same way.

Company-domain IMAP works after the domain is activated. If login fails right after DNS changes, wait for activation and propagation.

Microsoft Outlook

Desktop (Windows / Mac)

  1. File → Add Account (wording varies slightly by Outlook version).
  2. Enter your full address. If Outlook auto-detects Microsoft 365, choose IMAP / manual setup instead.
  3. Incoming: mail.fayvad.com, port 993, SSL/TLS.
  4. Outgoing: mail.fayvad.com, port 587, STARTTLS; tick “My outgoing server requires authentication”.
  5. Username = full email; password = mailbox password. Finish and send a test message.

New Outlook / “simplified” accounts sometimes hide advanced IMAP fields — use “Advanced setup” or “IMAP account” if the wizard insists on a work/school Microsoft account.

iPhone / iPad

  1. Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account → Other.
  2. Add Mail Account — name, email, password, a short description.
  3. Tap IMAP.
  4. Incoming Mail Server host: mail.fayvad.com; username = full email; password.
  5. Outgoing Mail Server host: mail.fayvad.com; same username and password.
  6. Save. If asked for ports: IMAP 993 (SSL), SMTP 587 (STARTTLS).

Android

Steps vary by Gmail app vs Samsung Email vs others. Look for Other or Personal (IMAP):

  1. Add account → Other / IMAP.
  2. Email + password, then manual setup if offered.
  3. Incoming: IMAP, mail.fayvad.com, port 993, SSL/TLS.
  4. Outgoing: SMTP, mail.fayvad.com, port 587, STARTTLS, require sign-in.
  5. Username must remain the full address on both servers.

Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.
  2. Enter name, full email, password → Configure manually if autodetection fails.
  3. Incoming IMAP mail.fayvad.com SSL/TLS port 993.
  4. Outgoing SMTP mail.fayvad.com STARTTLS port 587.
  5. Re-test and create the account. Send a message to yourself.

Common problems

  • Username rejected — You entered only jane instead of jane@domain.
  • Cannot connect / timeout — Check port and encryption pair (993+SSL, 587+STARTTLS). Corporate networks sometimes block SMTP; try another network or webmail.
  • Can receive but not send — SMTP auth is off, or wrong SMTP port. Turn on authentication and use 587.
  • Certificate warnings — Confirm the host is exactly mail.fayvad.com, not your domain name as the server hostname (unless you’ve been given a different host).
  • Password fails — Reset via org admin; ensure the mailbox exists on an active domain.
  • Still stuck — Support can help; include your email address (not your password), client name, and the exact error text.
